Only children from rich families went to school. For these children, school started at dawn and ran until noon. Children learnt things from heart, and used wax tablets to write, and an abacus to add. They also read from scrolls.

 

Boys and girls from poorer families didn’t usually go to school and learnt skills from their fathers and mothers.
